ARRI M8 Overview

B&H has put together this ARRI M8 HMI 2.5/4K Kit with Ballast for productions that need a great deal of light to punch through a silk or bounce light off a reflective surface, backed with a ballast with 1000 Hz high-speed filming capability. The kit includes the 9" M8 MHI head with bright lens-less MAX technology, a 50' head-to-ballast cable and an 575/800 High Speed Ballast with ALF and DMX. Four-Way barndoors are also included.

ARRI M8 HMI Lamp Head

The smallest and lightest fixture in the M-Series, the M8 HMI Lamp Head from ARRI uses lensless MAX technology to combine the characteristics of a Fresnel and PAR source. Other benefits include interchangeable lenses, high output in a relatively small form factor, CCL power compensation for long power cords, Cross Cooling, and weather resistant construction.

Small and Lightweight

MAX Technology yields lighter weight and ease of use, while the fixture is the smallest in the product line.

Hybrid Fixture

ARRI also uses lensless MAX technology to combine the characteristics of a Fresnel and PAR source.

High Output

The light output is comparable to 1000 or 1200W tungsten fixture.

Onboard CCL

CCL compensates for power loss when using long cables.

Cross Cooling

Cross Cooling separates the electronics from the lamp housing and allows safe tilting of the head up to 90°.

ARRI 575/800 High Speed Ballast with ALF and DMX for M8

The 575/800 High Speed Ballast with ALF and DMX for M8 has been introduced by ARRI to power the ground-breaking M8 lamp head with MAX reflector technology and 1,000Hz capability for frame rates of 1,000 fps and beyond. The EB 575/800W allows high speed shooting of sports events, industrial applications, automotive component testing and ballistics or material testing without any concerns about flicker. This versatile power source has been streamlined and packed with features like CCL to compensate for power loss over long cable runs and Active Line Filter. ALF provides a higher Power Factor resulting in more efficient power use. This is accomplished by shifting the voltage and current waveforms in phase and minimizing harmonics and spikes. ALF also minimizes the current carried back on the neutral leg of the power systems.

Compatible with ARRI D, X, Compact, Daylight 575W and 800W Daylights with CCL such as the M8, the EB 575/800W features DMX on/off and 100-50% dimming control, as well as automatic detection of lamp heads. The ballast employs both fan and convection cooling and a low noise mode for quiet operation on-set. To help you monitor the unit while shooting, the EB 575/800W has LED indicators for DMX, protective earth, over temperature, frequency mode, lamp on, and detected lamp head, as well as an illuminated On/Off switch.

ARRI Head to Ballast Cable 575/1200/1800W - 50'

This is an ARRI Head to Ballast Cable. The 50' (15.2 m) long cable is compatible with 575, 1200 and 1800W heads such as the ARRISUN 5, 12 Plus, 18, and 40/25 heads. It's also compatible with the ARRIMAX M18, the ARRI X X5 and X12, D5 and D12 Fresnels and the Compact 575 and 1200 heads.

ARRI 4-Leaf Barndoor Set for ST-1, 1.2Kw HMI Fixtures

This is an ARRI 4-Leaf Barndoor Set for the ST-1 Fresnel and 1.2Kw HMI fixtures. Barndoors attach to the front of a light and are used to restrict light from areas of a set. ARRI barndoors are heat resistant and rotatable.
