The DENZ HEAD Dutch Angle Camera Head is designed to make creating evocative and thought-provoking Dutch angle shots simple, efficient, and repeatable for filmmakers of all experience levels. The head is designed to Dutch your camera through a 180° (+90 to -90°) range around the optical axis of your lens for smooth and repeatable moves. Supporting a load capacity of 22 pounds, this Dutch angle head can support a wide range of cameras, from DSLR and mirrorless up to digital cine cameras.
Precision machined, the Dutch head mounts on your tripod head or mounting platform via its 3/8"-16 threaded mounting holes. Three different drive gear ratios allow you to select the speed adjustment that works best for the shot. If you want to motorize the DENZ HEAD, it comes fully prepared for that with a built-in 15mm support rod at the front for mounting an optional lens motor that interfaces with the drive.
Dutch
The DENZ HEAD allows you to "Dutch" (set the camera excessively off-level horizontally) through a 180° range from -90 to +90°.
Optical Center Height
For the most consistent results, the center of your lens needs to be 4.72" above the camera mounting plate. This ensures the camera will rotate around the center of the lens and not move in an arc. If your camera is too short, you can use optional riser plates to raise your camera to the necessary height.
Optical Center Movement
Unlike most other Dutch heads designed for lock-off shots, causing the lens to travel in an arc as you change the amount of Dutch in the shot, the DENZ HEAD keeps the lens centered as you change the angle, moving the camera body around the center of the lens axis. This makes it much easier to keep your subject framed properly during a camera move, which can be extremely difficult when using Dutch heads that don't keep the lens centered—as with those heads, you also must make large adjustments to pan and tilt to keep your subject framed.
Lock-Off or Moving Shot
With this head, you can set the camera's angle as a lock-off, or smoothly change the angle during the shot.
Three Speeds plus Friction Adjustment
The head features three different gear ratios, allowing you to pick which one gives you the desired speed when you turn the included flexible drive shaft. The friction adjustment knob enables tuning the tension on the head for a smooth start and stop.
Manual Speed Control Interface
The three manual drive interfaces use industry-standard sockets usually found on follow focus units, which allows you to use follow focus whips in addition to the included flexible shaft.
Motor Interface
On the front of the head is a knob that will also drive the head through its range. This knob has 0.8 MOD gear teeth, making it compatible with industry-standard lens motors. A built-in support rod allows you to mount the motor of your choice and drive the head throughout its range.
