The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" 1/4 Low Contrast Filter helps make the contrast in the picture a bit softer by adding a small amount of controlled light near the bright areas. This way, you can see more details in the darker parts while keeping the bright parts the same. It's really useful when the sun is super strong, like in the middle of the day, and you want to capture both the really bright and really dark parts without any problems. The 1/4 level of darkness doesn't change the contrast as much as the 1/2 level filter does, but more than the 1/8 level.

Tiffen uses something called ColorCore technology to make these filters. They put two pieces of glass really close together, just 10,000th of an inch apart. This filter is about 4 x 5.65" big, or around 101.6 x 143.5mm.

• Ideal for use during midday and other high contrast lighting situations when it is difficult to control both overexposed highlights and underexposed shadows.
• Lower contrast results in greater shadow detail when properly exposed.
