The Tiffen 4 x 5.65" 1/8 Low Contrast Filter helps to make the picture's contrast softer by adding a small amount of controlled light near the bright areas. This makes it possible to see more details in the darker parts while keeping the bright parts as they are. It's useful when the sunlight is really strong, like during the middle of the day, and you want to capture both the very bright and very dark parts without any problems. The 1/8 level of darkness doesn't adjust the contrast as much as the 1/4 level filter does.

Tiffen makes these filters using something called ColorCore technology. They put two pieces of glass together super flat, with a tiny difference of 10,000th of an inch. This filter's size is 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5mm.
