The Tiffen 82mm Pearlescent 2 Filter softens contrast and reduces sharpness to create a more flattering image by reducing the appearance of blemishes and softening highlights. Additionally, a pearlescent halo around highlights is created which can further enhance a subject's appearance. The filter has a grade of 2. The filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.
