This professional filmmaking kit combines the compact Sony FX5 Cinema Camera with the versatile Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II Lens.
The FX5 features a 16.6MP full-frame stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor, internal 5K Open Gate recording, 16-bit X-OCN capture and AI-powered autofocus. Paired with the constant-aperture 24-70mm G Master lens, the kit provides a flexible focal range for documentaries, interviews, commercial productions, events and narrative filmmaking.
The FX5 uses a 16.6MP full-frame stacked CMOS sensor designed for fast readout, detailed image capture and reduced rolling-shutter distortion. Combined with the BIONZ XR2 processor, it delivers natural tonal reproduction and flexible image quality for professional post-production.
The camera supports S-Cinetone for a cinematic look with minimal grading and S-Log3 for productions requiring greater control over colour and dynamic range.
Internal 16-bit X-OCN recording preserves extensive tonal and colour information while providing more manageable file sizes than conventional RAW formats.

The FX5 can record internally at up to 4992 × 3328 resolution and 59.94 fps. Its 3:2 Open Gate mode uses a larger sensor area, giving editors additional room for reframing, stabilisation and creating multiple aspect ratios from the same footage.
The integrated AI processing unit provides advanced subject recognition and tracking for people, animals and birds. The system maintains focus as subjects move through the frame and is designed to remain responsive in challenging lighting conditions.
Base ISO settings of 800, 4000 and 12,800 support professional image capture across a wide range of lighting environments. The camera offers 15 stops of advertised dynamic range, extending to 16 stops when Sensor Overdrive Mode is enabled.
Five-axis sensor-shift stabilisation helps reduce unwanted camera movement, while Dynamic Active Mode adds electronic correction for smoother handheld footage. The compact magnesium-alloy body is suitable for handheld use, gimbals and lightweight production rigs.

The FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II covers wide-angle through short-telephoto focal lengths, making it suitable for establishing shots, interviews, portraits, events and general production work.
Its constant f/2.8 aperture maintains consistent exposure throughout the zoom range and supports low-light shooting with controlled depth of field.
The optical construction includes two Extra-low Dispersion elements, two Super ED elements and five aspherical elements, including two XA elements. This arrangement helps control chromatic aberration, distortion and spherical aberration across the zoom range.
Nano AR Coating II reduces flare and ghosting, while the 11-blade circular diaphragm creates smooth background blur.
Four XD Linear Motors provide fast, accurate and quiet autofocus performance. The internal focusing design maintains the lens length during operation, while the floating focus mechanism helps preserve image quality across the focusing range.
The lens offers a minimum focusing distance of approximately 21 cm at 24mm and 30 cm at 70mm, with a maximum magnification of 0.32x.
